Our Mission:

New Americans can contribute to the critical mass of action to end epidemics such as Hepatitis and HIV/AIDS in the Americas. We aim to catalyze the momentum of diverse and organized movements led by people who are new to the Americas to foster outcomes which contribute to ending epidemics, improving quality of life , poverty elimination , housing equity , job security , welfare safety , food security , of any kind addressing adversity and reversing the climate change effects.

NOAHS ARK Washington, D.C.:
Our results cascade into the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)’s Elimination Initiative 30+ policy; The Public Health Agency of Canada policy; Latin America and the Caribbean health and development plans; the U.S. National HIV/AIDS Strategy and Department of Health and Human Services; and the American Public Health Association which champions the health of all people and all communities.

The Four Pillars of the NOAHS ARK Washington, D.C.:

Our history goes back to the time when we were working toward the elimination of HIV/AIDS in 2012 in California. We realised the intersectionality of marginalization, social determinants and the need to have novel approaches in form of interventions which needed to be robust and scaled to serve diverse people. Services to the people are blind to origins, status, creed, brand or blend. After the COVID-19 lockdown and the subsequent post lockdown years, we have been forced to consolidate all our interventions in the following themes:

  1. Health Promotion and Championing Healthy Living (HEPCHEL)
  2. Economic Development, Agency, Self-determination, Autonomy and Productivity (EDASAP)
  3. Community Integration, Housing Stabilization and Nature-based Solutions (CIHONABS)
  4. Policy Translation, Research and Development (POTRAD)

See CDC’s 2022-2027 CDC Strategic Plan which advances science and health equity and affirms the agency’s commitment to one unified vision— equitably protecting health, safety, and security.

The NOAHS ARK Washington, D.C. Operation Model

An adaptation of the Atlanta Project

  • According to the American Psychological Association, poverty affects life significantly and in a long lasting way in form of substandard housing, hunger, homelessness, inadequate childcare, unsafe neighborhoods, and under-resourced schools. Poverty contexts put low-income children at greater risk than higher-income children for a range of cognitive, emotional, and health-related problems, including detrimental effects on executive functioning, below average academic achievement, poor social emotional functioning, developmental delays, behavioral problems, asthma, inadequate nutrition, low birth weight, and higher rates of pneumonia.
  • According to healthy People 2030, several aspects connected to housing impact health and these include affordability, stability, quality and safety, and surrounding neighborhood. Quality of housing, specifically the physical quality of housing and neighborhood conditions may affect both mental and physical health. Poor housing quality and inadequate conditions — such as the presence of lead, mold, or asbestos, poor air quality, and overcrowding — can contribute to negative health outcomes, including chronic disease and injury.
  • According to Statista Q a global data and business intelligence platform, currently in the U.S., in March 2024, about 161.36 million people were employed in the manufacturing, retail and trade, professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, construction, wholesale trade, education and health services, financial activities, information and other services.
  • According to the federalsafety.com website, there is no office one can walk into to demand welfare, there is no department of welfare in the federal government. However, there are eight federal agencies run the programs. Welfare is a small part of what the agencies do: Internal Revenue Service – Refundable tax credits; United States Department of Agriculture – SNAP, Child Nutrition, WIC; Department of Housing and Urban Development – Housing Assistance Social Security Administration – SSI; U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Medicaid, TANF, Head Start, Child Care, and LIHEAP; The Department of Education – Pell Grants; The Department of Labor – Job Training; and the Federal Communications Commission – Lifeline (Phone resource).
  • Work with the USDA to contribute to an increase in food secure households in the U.S.
